Thread: My01 Jetta Vr6 Sounds like a diesel engine

    Car starts the clicking sound begins when i drive the clicking sounds remains steady clicking just at a faster rate depending how fats i am going. When i change my oil i mix lucus in there to quit the noise which works for a little en back to the noise please tell me what i need to change. i keep hearing different methods like the shifter rod but a guy on youtube claimed he changes it and yet his cars makes the same exact noise as mine

    have you checked the timing chain guides and tensioner.This is a 12v and notorious for this problem.

    that def a timing chain issue by the sounds of it, there is lots of discussion on this in the 12v VR forum
