I have an APR 4 program flash on my 09 GLI TSI (stock, 91, 100, valet).

I recently had a check engine light come on, so I switched from 91 oct mode to stock so I could take it into the dealership and have them take a look at it. They replaced the intake manifold (code was P2015). Got the car back the next day, and tried to switch back to 91 octane mode...

I turn the ignition on, hold down the SET button until the check engine light flashes 2 times/sec (91 oct is set to position 2). I then turn the ignition off again before I start the car...

Once I start the car and begin driving, its evident the car is still in stock mode as it only boosts a maximum of 8 PSI. This is confirmed when I check to see what mode it's in by again holding down the SET button. Immediately the check engine light only flashes once/second indicating it's in stock mode.

I've tried this many many times with the same result.

Also, when I got the car back, it was only boosting 8 PSI ( I thought stock was closer to 12?), and now the car is only boosting 3 PSI?! The car is VERY slow right now, and something is definitely not right.

No idea what the deal is, and if the two issues are related. Anyone run into this kind of trouble before? It seems like the ECU/APR software does not want to switch out of stock mode.

Is it possible the dealer messed with my flash?

    Thanks.

People have reported dealerships overwriting their flashes. But if you're boosting that low with no CEL/codes being thrown, are you sure you are not in valet mode? Have you tried using a different program? i.e. instead of trying to get into your 91 mode, try stock mode and valet to see how the car runs. Maybe somehow the way they are stored was mixed up?

Your ecu may be in locked mode. Try unlocking as per APR instructions then changing programs.

This thread is full of fail.

First, you should have locked it out, but thats beside the point.

Second, if they had flashed it over, your engine light wouldn't be flashing at all when you held the set button. It would do nothing.

Third, you do not "check" the program its in by holding the SET button again. it always starts at program slot 1.

Thanks for the help Obviously I was uninformed and that is why I came here to ask for advice...

I called APR and confirmed that my software is OK. I then had another poke around the engine bay, and saw the dealer tore the vacuum line going to my boost gauge when they removed/reinstalled it.

I replaced the line last night, and everything is working perfectly. Back up to a solid 18 PSI in 91 mode.

    Thanks for the advice, everyone.
