Thread: Sharan 2.8 V6 24V engine code AYL

    i've got in my Sharan the AYL engine, 150KW

    i changed the timing chain, now i don't know how to adjust the timing

    somewhere it says that i need a special tool for that somewhere not

    so pls if anybody has the tutorial how to setup the timing chain, help me

    the engine has variators on the camshafts or something like that

    sry for my bad english im from Europe

    Search this forum and also the 2.8l VR6 forum for Do It Yourself tutorials (there is an excellent one on the 12V 2.8l VR6 forum). The 24V 2.8l and 12V 2.8l VR6 engines use this same lower chain configuration. Yes, you can use a special camshaft locking tool to hold the camshafts in the correct position during the setting of the correct timing of the crankshaft and intermediate shaft. I bought mine from a VW dealer but the tool can be bought on the internet.
