I have an offer on my car and the seller wants to use an escrow service(Escrow.com ). That does not sound like a bad idea. The part that is causing me some concern is that the buyer wants a 5 day inspection period. I am not worried about the condition of the car. I have described it accurately and honestly. I am worried about someonhaving the car for 5 days during and all the possible things that could happen. I do not know the person and if they sendit back i get to inspect t tomake sure it is in teh same condition it was when sent but there are so many what ifs. In 5 days someons could really rag out the car pretty badly and it would not show when first looking at the car. Someone could swap half the engine parts out and I wouldnever know until something failed and I had to take it in. There just seems like too many things that couldhappen and if after 5 days he just changes his mind he can still return the car.
The other downsideis that during the whole time the money is held in escrow. So for the time period that the car is shipped and then the 5 days, then the transfer time(about 2 weeks) I have no car and no money.
Would appreciate any thoughts on this. Am I being paaranoid and worrying about nothing or does it douns like a bad idea? Anyone slld a car using this service orone like it?
