You might not get it off without breaking it, ECS sells just the seal if you need it.

i've got a missing seal on golf's antenna, a buddy of mine has a jetta with the seal intact, problem is we don't know how to remove it, does it twist off? or pry off? and how is installation?

I was under the impression you need to get at it from underneath. As in partial removal of the rear part of the head liner.
I had to get my roof re-sprayed because my local dealer dropped the garage door on my rear roof and hatch. When i got it back the ******* tards never removed the base of the antenna to spray it properly. Too much work for them to correct a problem that was their fault. End rant-
Hope this helps-![]()

thanks guys, i'll see if we can even get into his car, it was in a pretty serious roll over accident, so i dont think we can open any of the doors, lol. was hoping it would pry off or something, only reason i haven't ordered it from ecs is cuz its on back order, thanks again![]()

To remove the antenna you need to take down the headliner. It's a 19mm (I believe) nut that holds the antenna in place. Not a fun job.

Sorry for the craptastic cell picture. It looks as though 5 is a nut with a serrated washer m14 I believe. Also torque spec is 7 Nm 62 in lb. Accessible from inside only.
Hope this helps.
