Thread: APR K04 with stock dp

  1. 08-03-2012 02:47 PM #1
Is anyone running the APR K04 with the stock DP? I see the statement on the APR site that there is a ECU file for K04s with stock DPs. Just want to know what figures you get with stock DP. I have interest due to California Smog regulations and I don't necessarily need a 360 HP setup

Gunkata on another forum ran stock downpipe on his K04 A3 for a while.. said he didnt notice a huge difference when he added a aftermarket downpipe. He dynoed with the aftermarket downpipe on a Mustang dyno. Keep in mind he is AWD and gets more loss:

Dyno'd the car today on a Mustang Dyno: 251whp/267wtq

Thanks for posting that up. I think this is going to be a serious option for me, also saves me a bit of $$$ because I won't have to get the DP. Now which K04 setup to go with I am still unsure. But saving $$$ on DP means more money for the K04.

You have to really see the dynos between a k03 stage II vs a k04 setup with stock downpipe. The 60hp loss does not really justify going to a K04 if a K03 can get close to those numbers much cheaper.

Good man, good info. Now where can i obtain said Dyno charts? I am curious as to the change in the delivery of power between the two. I'd prefer to keep the car with the low, mid range power rather than high peaky HP. If I can spend $700 on a DP and not $2500 this equation is getting better for me already. I also didn;t want a DP because everyone that I know that has one has nasty rattles and again I must comply with CA smog
