    Uhhh...remove axle bolt...slide axle out of hub...profit?

You really need to have the car on the ground to loosen the axle bolt, and it is a stretch bolt that needs to be replaced when you reinstall it. You're supposed to reinstall it with the car in the air and someone pressing the brakes to keep the axle from turning as you tighten it. Depending on whether or not you have the hex or triple square head, the torque values are different, just FYI.

One way to tighten the able bolt yourself is to thread one lug bolt into your hub and rotor, then insert a heavy-duty screw driver into the vents in your rotor. Rotate the hub/rotor until the screw driver is against your caliper bracket. Torque away!

Perhaps not the best way, but when there is no other option...

ive never had a problem doing the initial 70Nm torque in the air with the tranny in park. Then do the 90 degree final torque on the ground.

to get it loose, i crack it while on the ground, then jack it up and do the rest. take the wheel off, undo the 3 ball joint nuts, undo the sway bar link, undo the headlight leveler, undo the pinch bolt, spreader tool the strut, undo the upper strut bearing 3 bolts, and go to town.

O and is it bad to drive on the 3 springs? Im thinking about just bringing it to the dealership to do the one spring. How much you think they will charge?

What's a "large bar"? A long handled 3/4" drive breaker bar? That's what I use but I also have a long tube that fits over the handle for extra leverage.

Unauthorized trick is to use bricks/cinderblocks/whatever to support a wood plank under the breaker bar handle and then start the car up and drive a foot or so to break it loose. Just be sure to plan for the motion of the car with how you support the breaker bar.

I did it with a friend. Pb blaster to lube up the strut to slide into the strut holder. And a jack. First install strut to the tower then jack up the spindle till the strut starts sliding in. Not too hard to do but yeah it is a little bit of a pain.

I was able to get the passenger side off without removing the axle by myself. The driver side is where I had issues and get help. What is holding you up on the passenger side?

It just seems like I have less room, with the driver side i was able to twist the whole thing so that the strut was facing forward instead of upward giving the extra room to remove the strut. Gonna give it another go tonight.

did u disconnect the sway bar?

you can ask a friend to put his body weight on the caliper to push it down some more.

youd be done by now if you take out that one axle bolt. Its not that hard, and the "right" way to do it.

also: a handy tip. dont tighten the 3 upper strut bearing bolts, just screw them in enough to hang the strut, then you can wiggle and jiggle the strut and get the knuckle to slide up without binding.

for anyone reading this thread in the future

TAKE THE AXLE BOLT OUT WHEN YOU CHANGE YOUR STRUTS. IT MAKES IT EASY. ITS NOT HARD TO DO.

DONT DO WHAT THIS OP DID.
YOU COULD GET KILLED OR WORSE. THE SPRING IS PRE LOADED WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO DO SERIOUS DAMAGE. tAKE THE STRUT OUT THE CORRECT WAY, THEN USE A SPRING COMPRESSOR TO DISSASSEMBLE THE STRUT AND SPRING.
