Need help recoding a NA 2012 Tiguan SEL - Amber Turn Signal Quest

I have read several threads on this website and haven't seen any that actually help with my quest of adding the amber turn signals back to the 2012 Tiguan SEL.

First off, I know I will be installing extra sets of wiring to make this happen. Running the needed wiring is easy.
The hard part is the proper coding to make it work like the European Tiguan. I have attempted to recode with what Ross-Tech has preinstalled in the long coding helper. It isn't the correct coding. My LEDs stopped working no matter what I did. I ended up taking it to the dealer to get it recoded to the original coding.

Here is where I need the help. Does anyone know...

-Byte 18 coding for a NA 2012 Tiguan SEL (with LEDs) Byte 18 is coded as AE

-Byte 18 coding for a EU 2012 Tiguan SEL (with LEDs and rear Fog)

No I'm using the stock taillights. All I need to do is bore out a hole for the bulb to fit. The basics are already there. After I add wiring the bulb should work fine. I haven't decided yet on rear fog yet.

Ok. Before I post the auto-scan I can say that I have the Byte 18 code for the NA Tiguan SEL. The tech that recoded my car back to its original coding kept the coding for Byte 18 visible, as opposed to returning it back to 00 as it was when I first downloaded the scan.

Byte 18 is coded as AE for NA Tiguan SEL

Good to know. So when you say basics do you mean the bulb holder (backing) already has a spot for the bulb AND it has metal lines running to it? I haven't gotten nearly as far as you and haven't pulled it to see.

I'm giving you a (or two) for sharing the byte 18 coding value. I hadn't even clicked on that box for fear of not being able to return it to factory value. 00-99, AA-ZZ, and all the number + letter combos are way too many to try to guess.

I think the next hard part is going to be finding coding for an EU lighting scheme that does NOT include the rear fog. I'm guessing the basic EU plan would include it. When set to EU it will work fine but throw a code for the reverse as rear fog not being there, again just guessing.

Yes, that is exactly what I mean by the basics. As far as coding is concerned. I plan on adding rear fog while I'm doing this as well. It's just not THE reason for this mod. I consider this an added benefit.

My next short term goal is to ring out the wiring to see if the installed wiring matches the wiring diagrams exactly. If so, great. If not, I can at least create a new diagram and compare to what VW says it should be.

Thank you for remembering this thread and circling back to it Dana. I looked over the scan and I'm a bit bummed (for my sake) he doesn't have xenons.
