      Sooo....

      I have this dilemma..

Build my TT.. toss in 10-12k for BIG Turbo build done right... etc..

OR keep the TT and get another car to toy with..

Been looking all over the place from Rx-7s to old dubs, them rotarys sure doo look enticing to have as a weekend toy..

How would you spend a little over 12k?

I sure as hell wouldnt build a big turbo 1.8T - You might as well take that 10K and set it on fire cause you will never get a return on that investment.

Buy a 944 Turbo or and FD RX7 and drop in an LS motor. at least that way you can get some of your money back if you ever sell... this, of coarse, is assuming you must spend it on a car and already own a home and have no debt.

      Well put…
I buy and sell cars. So if you need something let me know. I have cars, people want cars, I can sell my cars to people, that's basically how this stuff works.

NO debt. In college. All paid for with scholarship and the rest from what I work.

And the leftovers is because i work my ass off

I could care less about a return on investement.. Buying a car or modding a car is anything but an investment.

I have no idea what alternate universe you live in but I had to bail out of my 64 'vert project cause I was almost $4K into my 2110cc motor and it was still in baskets and boxes. Tranny was gonna be at least another 2.5k. 5K in paint and body (at minimum). Interior 2K. Misc other bits 2-3K Hell I would have been into that car for the price of a nice 964... thank god I cam to my senses and only lost half a grand after liquidation...

      Sorry for for loss..

I want to stick to Either BT 1.8 or Rx-7. However i have a feeling a BT 1.8 will be headaches after a while..

Probably going to look at an Rx-7 here in town at a dealer this weekend.. Has an ugly dent like someone broke into it, but there are not many rx-7s that are for sale let alone not toooooo beaten up..

ok ok...sorry for the slight exaggeration...you'll have 3k left over.

I can get you that tranny for under 800 direct from Rancho...I can get the interior for less than half that...easy...I can get you that 2110 or even a 2165 put together for that...easy.

It can totally be done. Trust me.

I'm 11 years daily driver in a 1958 Euro Rag in Tucson, AZ......every...day.

That bein said...I like the RX-7 idea too.

You know, old dubs are cool. I just have my heart set on a rotary engine in the FD rx7.

One day though I will definitely want into a Mk1 or Mk2 GTi with a vr6-T Probably 5+ years down the road.

Too bad your heart is set on a rotary engine. I was going to suggest just giving it to Derek so he could A/C the shop!

lol.. I had invested previously with the help of my Aunt.. she insisted i invest instead of doing stuff to my car.. I ended up investing and doing stage II on the audi.. The investment lost 3k in 2 years.. I sold, only got back 1500, and never looked back haha.

I made an offer on this: http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...23219303&Log=0. He's considering it and Ill let you all know If i get it!

Rod Millen was really the first to do anything with the FD's when they first came to the US. IIRC it was becaue he drove for Mazda back then. I seem to remember exhaust, tune, intake, suspension and a couple aero bits as part of the package.

well that would be pretty cool if it still has all those parts, I know I saw the rear wing was still on it.

Even if it was stock I would do stuff similar to a tune, intake, exhaust and suspension at one point or another.

Well, in the end I went with a MKII GTI VR6. Gonna turbo it eventually

Makes more sense.. cheaper maintenance, and easier maintenance than a rotary.. Plus, I've already got an audi. Might as well stick to vdub/audi
