Thread: Aftermarket or OEM radiator?

  1. 08-04-2012 12:33 PM #1
    2001 2.0L NB.

Noticed a leak on my fiancee's car near the drain tube today, its slow but still leaking...

I haven't investigated dealer prices yet but I'm sure they're pricey.

Are there good aftermarket replacements? Points for locations near Toronto in Canada.

Also, if anyone is aware of a write-up on swapping it out, please post.

    Thanks!

i just replaced my with a nissen radiator from auropartswarehouse com
it was an exact match, they even provided new o-rings with it.

look up on youtube for replacing radiator on beetle...

i had my bumper off so it was really easy for me...
    drain the coolant first...
take off negative terminal from the battery...
then start from under the car, unscrew the radiator/ac condenser/fan assembly from radiator support... 4 screws...
then unscrew ac condenser from radiator...
hang-up the ac condenser so you don't bend/kink the ac lines..
unplug the fan connectors... and thermo switch connector from radiator...
    de-attach the radiator top/bottom hoses...
and drop the radiator and fan assy together, take it out from the bottom.

check out my wreck repair thread maybe you can get something out of it.

let someone else comment on my post first before starting... i haven't tried replacing it with bumper on. but i'm pretty sure you can without taking off the bumper/fenders.

    have fun!
