Thread: Sports mode

  1. 08-04-2012 05:51 PM #1
Why do people habitually drive in sports mode? To me I only use it for certain situations and it annoy the hell out of me if I used it just in normal driving conditions. Is this just me or what?

It (Sport mode) is not even practical for city driving, IMHO. For those that use it, I guess it is more for the 'fun' factor.

Drive in sport mode for a few days, then see if you can drive in D any longer. I can hardly run in D any more, too sssslllloooowwwww. And I'm a 46 year old guy, I just like the throttle response better. To each his own. No biggie

I drive in Sport Mode all the time. IT feels really nice When the car holds the gears FOR EVER! Feels a lot like manual. Best sport Mode i ever driven in all the cars i drove. I only put it in D on the highway while crusin.

Always use sport mode. It's just more fun.

I actually tried out the 'Sport' mode yesterday. Getting on an On Ramp (@ the BQE), it sure is a lot of fun, exhilarating even, as you watch the other cars go by on your rear view mirror and RPMs approaching 6K. However, the downshifts as you are slowing down is rather 'jerky' (abnormal even). Maybe that is by design. Bottom line is I wouldn't use this for normal city/streets driving; 'D' works just fine...

Has there been any reported incidents as to driving in sport mode instead of "D" for everyday driving besides poor gas mileage?

Driving in sport mode is a good way to keep stress on the motor, and waste a lot of gas. If you want to the same sensation drive it in manual mode. Do the CC's have paddle shifters?

I don't drive hard normally but needed to burn off some deposits so I tried both sport and manual with paddles. Sport mode is nice but the shift points are slower than with paddles. I was actually pretty impressed with my vr6 getup and go at wot and paddle shifts. 100 comes pretty quick and the car feels very solid.
