Picked up an 87 4000cs Quattro today. It needs a thermostat and some love but not bad for $500. A good polish would help.

Nice! A tip from a fellow Tornado Red owner: Get some Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze. Put a couple bottles on and really let it soak in overnight at least. Then wipe it off. The oils will bring back the paint, guaranteed. It's important to wax immediately to seal in the oils or they'll come back out when it rains.

This paint will only only get worse if you start killing it with rubbing compound, so that's a great way to restore the shine without taking paint off.

Thanks for the tip. I put a little Meguiars cleaning wax I had laying around the garage in a small area just to see what it would do and I was pretty surprised with how it looked. I'll probably use a mild polish then seal the paint. It's in need of a polish aside from just the oxidation.

The differential locks weren't working and I could here air sucking behind the switch. Pulled it apart and it was just unhooked so I plugged it back in and tested it out by driving up a pile of gravel. This thing would out 4x4 my Yukon.
