What is the best thing to use on the dash of the new Golfs? They are really soft and padded thus must absorb so I want to be sure I use the right stuff.

Also, I feel like these highlighted areas of the door will wear/get dirty fast. Can they be scotch-guarded?

Lastly, I've heard the plastic over the gauges is very sensitive to scratches. How can I dust this area off and clean it without scratching?

Get a very soft plush microfiber towel and just mist the towel with water and wipe it gently .. it will act like a dust magnet.

    Got it.

I had tried Meguiars quick interior detailer which doesn't leave a gloss or shine. Wasn't sure if that was going to cause problems or not.

good luck with that plastic. It's going to scratch no matter what. I use microfiber towels all day. My GTI's are all scratched up. As for the fabric on the doors, I just use a wet cloth ringed out and wipe. You might be interested in this too for protection: http://www.detailedimage.com/303-M2/...-P14/16-oz-S1/

Can Plast-Ex by Meguiars bring them back? I wish they had glass covers like some high end cars.

I keep meaning to pick up a bottle of PlastX. Couldn't hurt picking up a bottle.

    Hi Justin14,
I use Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather spray in those areas of the doors in my Jetta. Works great and there has been no negative impact in years.

His appear to be the cloth variety, which after cleaning them I would treat with Wolf textile spray / guard or some kind of 'scotch guard' protectant.

As for the soft-touch plastics, 1Z Cockpit Premium is fantastic for day to day treatment and the Plastik Deep Clean is what you'll want to use for getting the tougher stuff out (scuffs from feet, etc).

And as far as the plastic, start with vacuuming the dust off before you go wiping it around... that will minimize the scratches if you get more abrasives off before moving them around on the plastic surface.

I just use some slightly soapy water (dawn) for the soft touch dash, but I don't like my dash really shiny like a lot of interior products cause. I think the owner's manual may even recommend soapy water. Check it out, there should be a care and cleaning type section in it if you're interested.

    Enjoy your new car!!
