Has anyone heard anything about the Tiguan TDI possibly coming out in 2014?

It's all speculation particularly when dealing with VW but the current Tiguan is slated for replacement in 2015 and VWoA has said they would like to have a TDI version.

I wouldn't get too excited since they talked about a second N. American plant for the better part of 10 years before they approved the TN plant. They have a slow, indecisive decision making process between the German and US divisions (mostly German) and would not be surprised to see a diesel debut on the 2021 Tiguan instead.

Looks like it won't matter much since VW is heading into Turbo Hybrid mode. The Tiguan as Turbo Hybrid would be really sweet.

Anything scheduled for launch in 2015 has a development program well under way. Since VW has suggested TDI and not a hybrid, I'll assume it ain't happening for 2015. The Toureg was known to have a hybrid option well before it was on sale.

I think I would have bought a TDI if it were available when I bought my Tiguan last month. I bet a lot of people would.

The official version that we got from John White is that the new tiguan is scheduled for 2015 however the TDI will come 1 year later so fall 2015 as a 2016 model!

That's a shame it will take that long. I think they would sell quite a few more Tigs in the US if they had the diesel.

Well, that's when my current Tig will get traded I guess. In the mean time I'm looking for a mid 80s Rabbit or Jetta to play with and satisfy my diesel cravings

Thats not to bad. I was wanting to get a new car for the wife a little sooner, but i can wait....haha. Hopefully they have a Hybrid model as well!! It would be hard to choose between a Hybrid and TDI.

C'mon people. We've been speculating on the TIG diesel since launch in 07. I don't know why. Seems obvious to us that we should have it in the US. Don't hold you breath waiting. I have lost my patience and am in the market for '12 gas version... so I can breathe again.
