I just picked up a new (to me, obviously) 2004 .:R32. I have wanted one since I first laid eyes on one back in 05, when I was stationed in Germany. Since I couldnt find one, I settled for a 24v GTI, also a 2004. I was pretty happy with it for a while, but it just wasn't doing it for me. Now that I have my .:R I'm hoping to hit the SCCA in the spring.

So far, I have noticed a little bit of modding, and am planning to tear into it on monday to see the extent of the work. What I have noticed so far is:
-Neuspeed anti sway bars front and rear
-lowering springs with no brand on them (blue)
adjustable dampening, but they don't appear to be coilovers, but, to be honest, I haven't really looked.
    -baffle delete mod

    Plans:
Go a little lower, but not rediculously so
    New wheels, flush, not poked
    ADD A DAMN ARMREST
    cat back
clean the hatch and add a MKV VW handle/emblem assembly
    clean false floor sub box
    *MAYBE* jetta swap
    *MAYBE* hot rod black

DEFINITELY building a 0 mile, pro charged, overbored motor.

Anyway, here are my ****ty cell phone pictures of my .:R. I will post better ones soon, but am on 12 hour watches, and nights at that, so haven't had the time as of yet.

here is some more pictures, camera is down, needs a new lens. So until then, here are some cell pics of my new 4x4

    (p.s. painted the wheels)

Here are the mods i have discovered so far.

^Anyone know what kind of lowering springs these are?

Also, these have some meaning to me. They have been my Dad's since the mid 90's, they were on his Scirrocco, Then, (when we got back to the stats, mid 2000s), his turbo beetle, 24v GLI, my 24v GTI, and now, my .:R

Also, does anyone know if GTI coils will fit the .:R? The guy who bought mine is about to bag it, and if those coils will work, I'd like to buy them.

those are OEM springs unless euro springs I believe which are still oem but a little lower , and the GTI coils wont work, the AWD makes the rear suspension completely different (no torsion bar here) and the front spindles are different too.

what makes me think it's lowered is that the strut caps are lifted about 1/4 inch off of the body under the hood, which is what has happened on every lowered MKIV i have ever seen

around a 1/4 inch is fine, normal I would say, more than that is when they are collapsed
that happens when the strut bushings collapse. most fail from being old, stiffer suspension, driven hard, the VR6 engine is heavy, or because they were overtightened when installed too causing premature failure. if they are the original struts they are most definitely collapsed.

    * no u cannot use GTI or JETTA springs or suspension on the R32. Different spring rates for the heavier front end and height of springs are lower on the R32

Why are you going to overbore the motor for a supercharger? Also how much of an overbore? Our cylinder walls are already fairly thin.

I did that to my old monte carlo when I supercharged it, and that was the happiest I have been with a car so far (other than the handling.) However, if the cylinder walls are too thin, then theyre too thin and I'll just supercharge it. Honestly, I don't know too much technical stuff about the .:R yet, and that's why I'm here.

    Is anyone running these?

what catches my eye on them is the adjustable dampening and camber
"Camber adjustability is included on pillow ball top mounts that allow it for the ability to adjust camber from the actual coilover, instead of a separate camber kit."

    thoughts?

Yeah there's really not any need. You can put a head spacer on to lower the compression ratio for higher boost, but I wouldn't touch the internals.

Those are for a MKV, I don't see any for a MKIV on that site.

    Looks good. Fastest color, too.

To each his own, but please don't do a Jetta swap.
