Ok, I've decided on Camden, Freeport and Kennebunkport, Maine.
No this is a travel question. Tomorrow I am heading down from Bar Harbor to Boston; the person I am with loved Bar Harbor and wants to stop at similar places on the way to down.
This is not the most easiest way to navigate so I thought I'd ask here. Are there any worthwhile stops on the way - she doesnt care if it is a tourist trap or local gem.
Lived up in Maine for a while and went to The Landing School of Boatbuilding and Design in Kennebunkport. There is a place called "The Landing Store" on your way into Kennebunkport have the BEST Lobster rolls going for a decent price. Huge chunks of claw meat--they do it right! There is no where to sit and eat--except maybe a bench outside--but this place rocks!!. Their subs are awesome too!
If you want good Lobster rolls AND a scenic view? I'd go here: http://lobstershacktwolights.com/
Hope you can try one of them!
Also, in Freeport, Gritty McDuffs is a great place for Beer, food, etc.
You can always go to Red's for Lobster Rolls on Rt. 1 in Wiscasset--but everybody goes there.
The Landing Store Rocks!! u won't be disappointed!!
Thanks for the quick responses to my crisis. I came across as quite knowledgable
Think I'll take a break from the lobster and blueberry pancakes for a while.
(Dont know whats with the blueberry pancake craze but if someone figures a way to combine the two into a regional dish I am sure it would do quite well...)
Article in today's newspaper on the overabundance of lobster:
