I would start with a CC rear seat setup myself if you were going to go custom assuming you have a sedan.
Thinking about taking my car a little over the top on the inside for a change and doing a complete custom interior of some kind.
I have the standard, leatherette perforated seats, and they just don't do the car any justice.
I want something way of the top like out of a brooklands or something.
Pretty committed to diamond stitching. But heres my question to anyone who would know, is it possible to use my seat frames now, resculpt the foam and make a new base/back, and then cover. Or should I start with a different seat, like say the higher bolstered Sport seats?
To those have swapped to sport seats, where in the heck did you find them? In a wrecked car, or found some one to trade with, or what? A set of sport seats would solve SOME of my issues, but not all.
Who can do this kind of work? Custom uphoulstery seems like its a dying art. I couldn't find anyone in a 150 radius that would talk to me about such work. Everyone I talked to mostly did headliners, basic seat recovers, and convertible tops.
So if anyone knows anything about the subject it'd be greatly appreciated. Its an idea I've been playing around with for a while.
This guy Shaz , he did custom retrim on his interior .
You dont want hear the price !!!!!!! around 3000$ (not sure about exact amount ).
Sorry Big Man , I have used your car as example , because it is one of the best in my opinion.
Yeah I was looking for pics of that car. Its amazing. Thats the similar theme I'm looking for, and actually $3K doesn't sound that crazy. I was pretty much prepared for that. Just finding some one to do that level of quality work here, and whether or not I have to start with sport/cc seats.
They can probably reshape/add foam to the leatherette seats. But it will probably cost a lot extra. Start with CC seats. Thise diamond stitched are awesome. I saw a Passat Wagon at last years Waterfest that had dual color leather that was same pattern as factory seats. It looked ok. Where is the best place to find CC seats?

That red out of the Brooklands, is the color I plan on doing on my car, I really like the diamond stitching too, I have a shop that can do it in FL, I have a rough estimate of about 3500-3800 to do the seats ( adding a little extra on the bolsters) and the door cards, but then I have to dye or paint the lower part of the dash.
I live in Eastern NC.
Where DO people get CC or sport seats to swap though? Junked cars? Trade?
My buddy Chris MAY be willing to help me do this. He owns a custom upholstery shop. I asked him once to do it, he said no, told him all the problems I was having and he may be interested. He mostly into air cooleds though. Yeserday, we priced the materials at well over $1,500, but that was for real leather straight off a hide.
