Thread: Canadians Traveling with Power Steering Fluid leak - Maybe some help?

  1. 08-05-2012 07:18 AM #1
    Hey vortexer's

My wife and I are traveling around the North East for the next week or so. Right now I am sitting at the Charlton Rest Stop(Plaza). I have a 2002 Golf TDI, with a bit of a power steering leak. Were from Toronto, Ontario.

Our plan is Boston, Providence, New York City, down through Washington and Baltimore.

So my issue. Power steering fluid has gone down. I replaced my rack last week. Checked the lines and didn't find leaks in the lines but found a mess of oil on the rack. Thinking I missed a leak in a line somewhere. I am just going to toss more fluid in it for the trip, unless someone can lend me some space to replace the lines on it. Any help on finding parts (High pressure in line and the output line), or somewhere to find BULK VW approved PS fluid.

I'll be in Boston today (5th) and heading to NYC on Monday, leaving the area on Tuesday. Down the rest of the coast by Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon.

If you can't offer any help, just chuck up the deuce on the highway. Let me know there are dubbers around. I'm in a reflex silver 4 door golf TDI with Ontario plates. Bugs everywhere on the front end. I don't have any service, so I'll check whenever I get wifi anywhere. Post in the thread and send a PM if possible. Going to cross post in the Capital region.

    Hey man,

I'm from the area, and lived in Toronto for a while. Etobicoke, near Fairview, Queen & Spadina, all over the place.

Anyway I'm really sorry to hear about your issue and can't really offer any help as I don't know any vw mechs in the area, but I did post up looking for help here when I was driving my POS mk3 back to Toronto from MA with 2 broken wiper motors.

    Good luck my man!

might be better off calling a local shop and just paying them to do the work. sucks but its prob easier than asking to use a shop space
