I was browsing craigslist the other day and came across this "strong running" mk1 Cab that looked like it was in good shape for $1200, I thought it was too good to be true but went to check it out anyway. Turns out the guy I bought it from bought it to fix it up for his wife but ended up having a change of heart. All of the fluids are new and topped off, hasn't leaked a drop of anything yet (knock on wood) But it made the over an hour trip back home in 105º Arizona heat without any signs of over heating so I was pretty impressed! The guy said he replaced the distributer rotor, fuel pump, fuel filter and the plugs/wires are relatively new and in good shape, The one problem i've noticed is that when the engine is cold (not in cold weather) it will stutter pretty bad almost like a bad misfire, but after 3-5 minutes of trying to drive around it sorts itself out and runs regular without any signs of misfires that i've noticed. Any insight would be greatly appreciated as this is my first Cab and my first non-mk4
Btw I ended up getting it for $1000

Welcome and enjoy. Check out www.cabbyinfo.com. Also before someone gets pissed, there is no such thing as a MK2 cabby. You bought a MK1. They remained on a MK1 chassis until 93. As for your cold stutter issue I will again refer to the aforementioned site. It has all of the info you will ever need. If you find that it doesn't then buy a Bentley.![]()

Another new AZ owner -- and one with my car's twin (back when they were new)!
www.cabby-info.com is better.

Glad to see another Arizona Cab owner, too bad I don't see more out on the road running around! I think I saw that one on Craigslist. It looks really good and you can't beat the price.
I guess everyone else here has covered it well with the websites you want to check out.

Nice cabby. I think your misfiring/cold start problem could be your ignition wiring. It needs to be set up as 1-3-4-2. That might save you some time.
