Thread: DSG transmission in B6 cars equipped with the 3.6l VR6

  1. 08-05-2012 02:32 PM #1
    Hello,

I am trying to find out when the B6 cars equipped with the 3.6l VR6 engine came with the DSG transmissions in North America. If I recall correctly or maybe incorrectly, the first VR6 cars were equipped with conventional automatic transmissions with a torque converter, and later replaced with the DSG. Would anyone know when the DSGs were introduced to the B6 VR6 cars?

    Thanks...

I think there has never been a 3.6 equipped with dsg here in the states.
I've read some misleading reports saying the newer cars are mated to dsg but I'm almost positive it's wrong.
The new facelifted CC with 3.6 still has the 6sp automatic, not dsg.
Only car with it is the R36

First and only cars in the US to have the 3.6l DSG setup are 2012+ North American Passat FWD VR6 and 2013 FWD VR6 CC. The 4 motion CC with the VR6 is still using the 09G automatic trans with torque converter.

I would convert my car to FWD to have DSG.

Its possible but would need a 4 motion DSG from overseas.

I wouldn't doubt that the mkv r32 dsg is the same box only programmed a bit differently.
I spent some time looking into this...for the life of me I can't remember where/how I got the info (think it was comparing euro r36 dsg to mkv dsg part numbers)...
Anyway, I think they are just about the same.

Might very well be. The main issue I would think would be the programming and wiring harness for trans.

I have always liked this video.
