After over 4 years and 52K miles, finally have a non related routine service issue and would appreciate some help. Power from both 12V power plugs (front and in the rear of the console) suddenly stopped working today. I've never used the rear plug and have used the front plug with a two prong splitter for my radar detector and gps. Just stopped getting power earlier today. I'm guessing a fuse blew? If so, anyone else have this problem and can advise what fuse to look for in the box? If not a fuse, anything else to consider before taking car in? Appreciate any suggestions.

The fusebox layouts are notorious for be incorrect. Your best best is get a simple test light for a couple bucks (if you don't already have one) and hunt down the blown fuse.

If you want to trying and use the fuse layout here it is. B6 Fuse layout

Same thing happened to me. It turned out to be a fuse, but just like B6 Passat said it was not where the manual said it should be. The blown fuse was even in the left side dash fuse box instead of the right side!

I solved the problem and want to pass along a couple things to note in case anyone else has the same issue. There are three fuse boxes...engine, and left and right side of dashboard. Open both front doors to expose the fuse box panels and pry open with screwdriver. The 12V power outlet is a 20amp (yellow) fuse. Do not pay attention to the owners manual....fuse locations are totally incorrect. Like Derek said, the correct 20amp fuse should be located in the drivers side box and is the lowest yellow 20amp fuse in the box.....sits by itself. Yours might be a different location but just pull out and check and easy to replace. A two-pack at Pep Boys sells for $3.79. Takes less than 10 minutes and beats a $50-60 dealer charge.

Quick bump for this thread as I have a question. Both of my plugs also stopped working. I bought my 2009 wagon CPO with the extended warranty. Is this something the dealer could take care of with no charge?

The one caveat is that I did the Euro cupholder mod. I'm concerned that they'll see this and declare any power plug problems will not be covered since I had to unclip these harnesses when I took apart the console.
