I got a whole housing on my old car on ebay for $50. It wasn't painted or anything but if you're looking for something quick like that there should be some options.

Hello all,
A few weeks ago some scumbag stole mirrors off my dad's 2009 Jetta 2.5. The car was parked in front of their house in Queens. The part that was stolen was the glass, along with the plastic backing.
Now, I purchased just the glass from ebay, but the problem is that it is just the glass and not the plastic thick backing, so the mirrors sit really deep in the housing.
Question: what's the cheapest place to purchase replacement glass along with the plastic backing? I don't care about OEM, so non-OEM stuff will work too, as long as it brings the car back to its original condition.
Thank you in advance!
Tom

I changed my oil with diluted KY Jelly and I really like it. Drove it 3 miles no problem yet. Highly recommend it.

You mean the scumbags just popped the mirror glass out of the housings?
You might try ECS Tuning, here -- the "blind spot" mirrors about halfway down:
http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-...erior/Mirrors/
These cars are kind of notorious for having a bad blind spot to the left rear. These mirrors are the kind they have in Europe -- "asymmetrical," which means they're slightly convex over most of their surface... then more convex on the outer edge starting where the dotted line is. No more blind spot.
Plus they've got the heating elements.

Thanks Guys!
Yes, the heating element was stolen. Basically they pried the glass off completely along with the heating surface in the back.

I looked around everywhere for them when the jetta lost one a few months ago. Ebay turned out to be the best price. It wasn't OEM but it had the heating element and looked exactly like the original. I ordered an official replacement that verified fitment on Amazon and it was not the right mirror, so be aware of that. May have been for a MK4. The blind spot mirrors are great, but fairly expensive, especially with the heating element.
