AMSTERDAM (Reuters) -- Dutch company Spyker said it was suing
General Motors Co. for $3 billion on behalf of its subsidiary Saab,
accusing the U.S. automaker of deliberately driving Saab into
bankruptcy by interfering with a planned deal with a Chinese
investor.
Saab Automobile went bankrupt in December 2011, less than two years
after GM sold it to supercar maker Spyker. The bankruptcy followed
several unsuccessful attempts to attract Chinese or other investment.
"This lawsuit seeks redress for the unlawful actions GM took to avoid
competition with Saab Automobile in the Chinese market," Spyker said
in a statement today, referring to a complaint filed in a U.S. district
court.

Someone needs to make a book/movie about Saab. They're like a ghost that continually haunts everyone.

This must be Mueller's Plan C. Or is it D? Maybe G by now.
It'll never fly. If it were Fiat, then yeah... there's precedence.

Cue the armchair CEO's with a foggy understanding of the issue, legal implications and an anti-Saab bent!![]()

I like saab
I wholeheartedly believe in the likelihood of these events having taken place
I only half want it to BE true because in the end I (we) will have to pay for it!!!

GM should just wait 3 years. By then, depreciation will have the lawsuit down to like $10,000

They're mad that GM didn't want the Chinese to buy Saab and still all of GM's IP to make their own Chinese cars based on an excellent platform and motors. Spyker should know their role and shut their mouth and keep designing ugly supercars.

Name a world-class Saab that actually did as well or better than it's direct competition after say 1965 or 1970. The 900 sure wasn't, nor was the 9000. I like Saabs, but to put all the blame on GM is ludicrous...they were never GREAT cars and never sold well enough to survive a downturn in the economy even at their best. The recession did us a favor and killed off weaker car brands.
