So i've been looking around for parts here and there for my 05 Gli Jetta and was just curious what all the mk5 mk6 means. I am guessing the numbers mean the year but what does the mk stand for?

MK - mark aka generation
MK 2, 3, 5, etc - is the actual generation number spanning in number of years.
