Mix different brands of engine oil during an oil change?

Reason I am asking is I ordered 6 liters of Pentosin High Performance II Engine Oil (5w-40) as part of the 40K service kit from ECS Tuning, but they short shipped the order and only gave me 5 liters instead. I am bringing all the parts to a local VW dealer for the 40K service this Friday but just in case ECS can't express the oil in time, is it ok to mix the last half a liter (engine oil capacity is 5.5 liters) with something else? I think my dealer usually carries Castrol, but not sure if it's 5w-40 as well.

    Thanks!

Not recommended by VW, check the "Topping Up Oil" part:

That doesn't say anything like "you can't mix brands."

The point is that you "must" use a VW-approved oil. The Pentosin from ECS is, and the stuff the dealer uses (probably Castrol Syntec) will be.

Personally, I'd just reschedule the oil change, a few hundred extra miles shouldn't hurt. This kind of crap is why I don't buy from ECS anymore though.
I have installed most of the popular bolt-on mods for a 2008 R32, minus suspension work. I know a lot about electronics and car audio, and have experience with VCDS ("vagcom"). I'm a radar/lidar countermeasure enthusiast. I like track days, autocross, and US Highway 129. I love aural pleasure.

I keep hearing more and more people who have had their service kit missing stuff, to where I expect it now.

I just received an order from ECS last week, inside I found the 5L of Motul leaking like crazy. I was also missing another part I ordered. Problem was that UPS repackaged it (wasn't in a white ECS box), Ive been ordering from them for 5+ years, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt here.

Besides this incident and the whole credit card fraud thing ECS had this spring I've been impressed with there customer service. Hopefully we both get our replacement oil quickly.
