And so dear peeps, proof positive that even an old Scirocco will sacrifice its life so that you may live!

Good thing they weren't decapitated by the silly speaker shelf!

That is what I was thinking, but the hatch has some nifty little tabs that hold down the parcel shelf when the trunk is closed..... I hope!! Lol

No rozap for this video in this forum.

It might have been saved if it had US style bumpers.

With this waterfall flooding the road, he had barely no chance.

He wasn't going that fast....first thing I noticed. However his observational skills leave a bit to be desired...

I'm a mountain man...I guess always will be. Natures subtle signs of danger

    1. You can see snow and ice everywhere.
    2. You can see portions of the road flooded...before the incident.
    3. 'all of a sudden' there a mountain runoff stream across the road... (not sudden at all!)
    4. 2" of water = hydroplaning immediately
    5. Crappy tires.

the carberator gods loved him actually...he could have spun outwards....and we'd be a lot sadder.

It's clear that the massive weight of that parcel shelf biased the car towards oversteer, which caused the rear end to kick out when it hydroplaned.

See, us old(er) guys use the word slammed....in THIS manner!

The speaker shelf was playing easy listening, 'light' music....which causes terminal oversteer...obviously!
