So, when I bought my set of wheels, they came with 225/45/17's. Three tires were needing to be replaced, and one was brand new. I have since replaced all four tires with 245's, but still have the new 225 tire. My question is, in the event that something happens to one of the 245 tires, can I put the 225 on with minimal problems? The major one I could see would be it spinning faster/slower. Not sure if that is a problem I could have, but looking for someone with more knowledge. Would it be a noticeable difference? Safe or no? Thanks guys!

Not good if you have 4motion. Do you?

he doesn't....he has a 2.0T (it says it in the signature).

plus, with AWD, it is the differential of front wheel(s) rotation vs. rear wheel(s) rotation that messes with the AWD system.

It shouldn't cause any mechanical problems, it will just make your handling feel a bit odd. Though I wouldn't do it for prolonged use especially in the front, but it will get you by for a while in a pinch.

Thanks for the replies everyone. As someone said, no 4mo. In the event that this tire was on my car with my three 245's, I'd probably move it to the back so my front wheels have the same tire width. I will look into selling the tire still though, if it is worth enough for it to make sense for me to sell it, I probably will. If not, I'll keep it as a "spare."
