Everyone saying "none" are lying. Everyone has opinions that have been influenced by things people do. For instance, EVERYONE will think about getting a mid 90s model Civic, Accord, integra, etc., because of the theft issues.

I guess Florida counts as Southeast scene, but it is still not too bad, sure there are the stanced/bagged cars, but the local group is mature and helpful with weekend tech days, etc, its been that way for the last 10 years I've been around the local vw scene. But the group is so small that everyone knows each other
Now the Honda scene in Florida...ugh, I'll drive my honda, but the risk of theft just turns me off.
I do like the local autox groups in the area regardless of affiliation/make, they have great events and welcome all makes.

For me it's the Bugatti Veyron. I would totally own one, but the car is just ruined by the fact that Simon Cowell owns one.

the fact you would even associate someone elses thoughts/opinions or the image they perceive with a car purchase YOU are making is a joke.
notice how i didnt mention a single car company and yet you still tagged the "VW fanboy" title just further proving my previous point.
admit you are scared to think for yourself and move on, im not going to go out of my way to not buy a car i like because some stranger misinterprets the image im suppose to give off..![]()

I try to have an attitude similar to this, and usually have no problems, but lately I have a dilemma that I almost cannot overcome....
I want to buy an HD Iron 883 and build a cafe-style bike out of it. Badly. I can't get the idea out of my head, and have already picked out half of the parts necessary to do it.
But then I will have "a Harley." I do not wish to be grouped in with "Harley guys," and I do not wish to answer the question "why don't you get some LOUD PIPES for that thing?!?!?!?!" every single time I ride it in public.

Mustangs...
Civics...
Eclipses...
Then I grew up and liked any clean example of any car.
Hell, over the past month I've seen just a handful of cars pictured in this exact forum I would have never considered.

I used to really love RWB Porsches... up until Stanceworks/Hellaflush discovered them and started to use them as advertisement.

When I think of buying an already-done hybrid Civic hatch, I stop to consider what the cops in Fairfax County will think.
When I think of buying another ITR, I stop to consider what thieves will think.
When I think of buying a BMW or a Porsche, I stop to consider what my parents and my in-laws will think.
I don't want to give the impression that I'm a street racer, an easy mark, or living beyond my means. I'll stick w/what I've got![]()

Um. So you were driving a MK4 until a few months ago, still own it, and have intentions of driving it again.
Tell us again how you don't drive a MK4.
On topic: I personally hate the VW "scene" and have not been interested in attending most of the shows or other events with the exception of a couple. Mainly because I don't like most of the owners. I only own VW's because I am comfortable fixing them when something breaks. And if it's something that I don't know how to fix, there is always one good person in a sea of asshats on these forums that can offer some good advice other than "lower it" or "not enough camber."

i still love my A3 but i can't stand the forums that exist for it.
90% of the threads are "how doez i black out teh grillz", "painted my wheelz yo", "do i need BOV?" etc, so i stay away.
audizine.com is super childish now, the A3 forum on vortex is too slow, and the rest plain suck. hardly any tech knowledge, and hardly any people with intelligence left around the A3 nowadays.
i like my car, just not the retards that surround it. whatever.
however, i LOVE the BMW 2002 scene completely. bmw2002faq.com has lots of great people, tons of support, and many helpful tips. the community there is great. lots of knowledge, tech support, cheap part selling/swaps, etc. you really couldn't ask for more.

I'm thinking he doesn't have a TEIN suspension, doesn't have anything from HKS, isn't on Falken tires, doesn't have a Tanabe exhaust, doesn't compete in WRC, and doesn't have PIAA lamps but instead some eBay 20k HIDs in stock housings that'll put the sun to shame.

Easily the Chrysler 300 for me.
Every brand has it's douche-bag following, and every type of car could potentially be owned by a douche.. Or a decent level-headed auto enthusiast.
But the only car to date that has unanimously been accompanied by douche-bags in my experience... Has been the Chrysler 300.
The other easy targets, are some of the extremists of every brand/type... But there are always the exceptions of cool guys that run the same cars.. Sort of keeping the balance..
But I have yet to ever cross path's with a non douchey 300 owner.![]()

I don't know so much that it's the people (as much I'd like to blame it on a lot of the young crowd) but cars in general are just boring to me now. I'm 36 and am wondering how I got so bored and am not nearly impressed by a BMW "M" series anymore. Or an Audi "S" series. They're too common now. You can buy an ordinary 3 series and get the "M package" to be faux. Boring.
The proliferation of attractive leases for premium vehicles like the A4, 3 series, G37, etc just turned them into ordinary cars. Just about anybody with a decent credit score can go lease a new one of said vehicles or you can buy an off lease for not a bad price and think your king of the hill in your base model BMW.
Thinking of buying a used or "classic" like a 1988 Jettta Carat or 1991 Honda Prelude Si 4WS? Don't bother because unless you are willing to ship them in from out of state, they are all: a) rotted with Northeast rust b) chopped up and glued back together by some dopey shade tree mechanic 17year old who blew his birthday money on ridiculous parts or c) most of those cars are living life as a Kenmore stainless steel fridge.
What do I miss? A mint condition 1991 Audi 200 20v quattro, manual, with color keyed wheels, Hella rounds mounted between the headlights, a set of cheap skis in the cheap ski rack and a driving blizzard.
