Here's the problem. Websites aren't simple. I know it seems like they should be just like editing a Word document or whatever, but they're not. With that in mind you may want to check out Shopify or GoDaddy. Good luck.

You could use something like openCart or even Wordpress.

I can provide more info if you want to pm me. I run a web programming/design/hosting business.

Opencart actually looks pretty cool. I was thinking of a software program that has templates etc that then generates the code but open cart looks like it might work for what i need.

    thanks guys!

I built an e-commerce website using monster commerce in conjunction with usaepay. With minimal javascript improvisation if you're using one of their pre-designed layouts, it worked pretty well.

They have pre-designed layouts, and you can always use custom css and webpages obviously (i made my own ups tracking page).

It was a pretty good deal back then (2007), 50$/month for about 500 porducts, multiple mailboxes, and they had an upload utility you could install locally if you don't know how to use filezilla.

Automated notifications to your suppliers for dropshipment are customizable. I forgot if order processing could be automated.. I'm not sure what's available these days with them.

edit: monster commerce is a subsidiary of network solutuions, big players in the arena, they will provide a competitive solution.

I've never seen a more complicated pile than Magento. I tried it for weeks and just customizing the layout was a humongous pain, nevermind setting up products.

Why even mess with any of it if you're not a web developer and just use something like Zoovy. You'd have an entire outsourced design and developement department.

I've made them using Drupal (drupal.org) with the eCommerce module with very little web experience.
