Received a call from Volkswagen of America today and was told that the Volkswagen engineers have definitely determined a fix for the 2012 Beetle window problem and that it would be rolled out within the next two to three weeks. This sort of confirms a conversation I had with a Regional Case Manager several days ago who told me they were very close to a fix but would not give me a time frame. Today's call was not from the Regional Case Manager but from another individual who simply said she was with Volkswagen of America and had good new for me. She thanked me for my patience and apologized for my inconvenience and frustration. This was by far the most productive call I have had from VW in weeks and very welcomed by me.

I hear you but this was an unsolicited call from Volkswagen and the first time they have committed to anything so I think what she is telling me is true. Let's keep our finger crossed.

Did they mention what it was maybe? curious. Today someone said it was a short in the window door switch...a cross in the wiring harness. what next, still think the motors.

She did not mention what the cause of the problem is just that they have a fix and ,as far as I am concerned ,I don't care what the cause of the problem is just that it will be fixed.

I know what ever it is, just fix it I know...but many would just like to know if there B's will be torn apart or just a simple fix, and say bye bye...all done.
Call her back and ask for the official TSB number or better yet, get it and post it here.

I agree, I do hope they have a fix for it already, but you can't blame us for being skeptical.

Sorry. I am not calling anybody back. I am content to wait to be contacted either by my dealer or Volkswagen to tell me to schedule an appointment to get my window repaired. In the mean time, I am moving ahead with getting an APR ECU tune and and cold air induction kit installed so I can enjoy driving the Beetle even more than I do now.

I was told last week that they were working on a new motor that would be available in 4-5 weeks.

I asked if they had proof that this fix works. He answered that it was in the testing phase now.

So the answer was basically 'no'.

I hope the person that called you was right! But I'm not holding my breath.

The motor fix on the way to my dealership from Germany should be in house Thursday or
Friday. If it consists of other parts (switch etc.) I will definitely become aware of that
    information and post it.

Ridge, make sure the motor is aligned to specs, it is important.

I'm going to tell the service mgr to make sure his mechanic follows all VW's spec alignments.
I wish someone on our site could track down that specific information and give us a 'step by
step' concerning proper window installment procedure.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all the owners that this IS the fix.

All my boyfriend said was they have markers as to the alignment postiion of the motor. It should be easy if they know what they are doing. This is call perfect gear mesh when done.

Just called him and he said, you should not hear any weird noise or gears when done. They are nylon gears, but still should be noise free.
