    1. It doesn't need a Soundaktor to give the illusion it has a real engine.

If your gas cap light comes on even if you think you tightened the cap, try pulling on the cap as you tighten it. Worked for me.

I think you can get MkVI GTI's w/ DSG, no?

Anyways, when we got our R32, the MkVI was in minor consideration but when we got to the dealer, no one even payed attention to the MKVI...my late mother even mentioned, "Why would we pay the same price for a GTI that we can get the R32 for?".

    vr6 growl.
better amenities, heated seats, auto headlights, auto wipers, heated seats, headlight washers, dual zone climatronic.

but yah VR6 and AWD are the main factors.

Better resale value than the GTI.

The MK6 gti's come with Bluetooth though which is nice, though I have it retrofitted with the RNS in my R32 so not too much of a deal.

The fact that the MKV R32 is DSG was the only reason I was even considering a MKVI GTI.

I really miss ripping through the gears. DSG is my only "complaint" about this vehicle. If it had a 6MT, I'd likely keep it forever.

I'm with you on this...the only reason I'm still planning on keeping this car forever is because I already have a manual car that I will keep forever as well and it's nice to have one of the best automatic transmissions around if I'm owning any automatic.

I'm not knocking the R. I own one as well and know the pluses and minuses between both cars very well.

LOL Seriously? I guess I only just heard of this. I wasn't specifically looking to make a thread to rag on the GTI, but mostly just to have a laugh at this little sound maker. Me, I'd remove it.

See, if VW is going to sound-proof their cars so much (which is nice from the perspective of eliminating road/tire noise on a commuter car) to the point that they need an engine sound simulator, why not at least simulate their better-sounding engine? (3.2VR6)

The 2010 GTI 4 dr is APR tuned and very quick, however as much as he can my son likes to trade, AWD is the best thing.....
I would already have a GorF if the DSG was available, my disabilities prevent a stick except as an occasional incident...

I am presently driving the 2009 GLI this week as Mrs oldracer prefers the traction of the R32 in the monsoons we're having every afternoon lately.......
The GLI spins in the first 4 gears with throttle application very easily, TC inadequate in water...

We just won't buy another FWD car again, may have to go Audi to get her a kid/dog carrier with AWD. We don't want a CC or Tiguan so choices are limited.
No Touraeg as the depreciatio is 50% as you drive off the lot.... plus my VW techs hate to work on them...
Finally got VCDS setup - now to learn all the nuances

Agree on this. I would too. Why waste a hand rowing gears on The Dragon, when you need both of them to hold on to the wheel.

Agree on FWD. also after test driving a Tig, Terrorig, we picked Q5. I don't know a VW mechanic who does like working on a Trex.

I can't bust the MKVI GTI this time around. I will say they are nice looking, and professional women in our neighborhood have opted for GTI over the hum drum BMW 328 or C300, which is nice. I say nice a lot.

If you're taking trips to the dragon regularly, auto-x weekly, or are physically unable to drive a stick on a daily basis, this statement has merit.

    And missing this:

    and this:

Just messing with you...It's funny how so many people on Vortex think their Dub is the best and hate on all the other ones. They are all good cars for different reasons that suit different needs. If I wanted a FWD hatch, I'd take a GTI over just about anything else. If I wanted a AWD hatch as a DD and didn't care about transmission or wanted an automatic, MKV R32..manual, MKIV R32...Economy? TDI...If I wanted an S3 and just can't wait any longer, Golf R. Why all the hate for other models and need to justify your decisions? Isn't it good enough that we all have better cars than most the people in tin foil econobuckets do?
