This may be normal. It is our first DSG transmission. When accelerating at a normal rate with other traffic the DSG has a slight shift flare between all gears like there is a slight lag between the clutch swap. I thought it was supposed to be instantaneous. Is this correct? I'm thinking maybe it's still going through the adaptive learning thing before it tighten's things up but just want to see how they're supposed to drive. For all I know it's normal.

Not sure what you are experiencing but there is no adaptive learning with the DSG.

I think I may have noticed this too... a super quick blip in the RPMs as the shift happens. I wouldn't worry.

Nothing in life is instant, not even instant coffee

DSG is crazy fast compared to other forms of shifting but it still has its occasional quirks and hiccups too. Someone above said it is not adaptive.. well the DSG may not but the cars definitely respond to different styles. Many times after really romping my GLI, I'd go back to regular driving around a corner or something and it would stumble around a few shifts until things were more constant again.

The biggest factor I've found in what you are describing though is shift points and how the turbo is boosting. If you are driving slow but it's spooling up or hitting peak boost it makes the shifts flare a bit. In the same situation I'd put it in tiptronic and shift either below any boost or higher into it and it would be smooth. This is mainly in stop and go erratic city driving only.

Hm... I've never experienced this...... Or... At least never noticed it :-)

I love how quick the shifts are with the DSG compared to a traditional automatic

I'm not super-worried, I pick up on really little things like this. Maybe I'll just take a quick video soon and post it up. If pictures are worth a thousand words, videos have got to be worth more!

DSG shifts are very quick and crisp.....what you are feeling is sloppy rear mount. I installed the HPA TDI mount and it is awesome, except for the added cabin noise.

I love the DSG, just wish the HPA mount didn't add cabin noise.
