I know the GLI is not a race car, those are gutted, caged single purpose vehicles. But the GLI is advertised as a performance sports sedan and I will drive it as such, and if that means adding the traction control switch to improve performance I will. So I take my GLI to the autocross, to the drag strip and the occasional HPDE.

Oh by the way, here's the Golf R "racecar" sucking at the track because of the Traction Control/stability management. Starts at about 6:00
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4uDz...e_gdata_player

So to end my rant, you enjoy being parked and low and dumped/flush/stanced(which by the way I have no problem whatsoever with by the way.) whatever it's called now a days and I'll be at the track.

You are an embarrassment to your mother. What I said was far more in line with reality than you spending 10 posts arguing with people about a mod that YOU have no interest in doing.

If you think I have an issue acknowledging what I drive (a completely stock-engine Jetta), I suggest you look at my signature, and then drive your car off of a bridge and into a river.

Go away. Cute 3x edits by the way.

Haha, OK so maybe that's a crappy argument. Either way, I got rid of my miata and a GT3 911 was a bit out of my budget so my non-race car GLI will just have to do. Can't we all just agree to disagree? :p

Last time. These aren't race cars. They are daily drivers that people think are race cars. If I wanted something that was all go, I wouldn't have bought a Jetta.

Its a Jetta people, not the R.
The Golf R is no race car either. It's a really nice commuter. Watch the clip below.

I made a deposit on an R in Feb. '11, almost a year before the cars arrived. Last fall I went to a ride-and-drive and got to wind one out. Because it would not be driven every day and see some HPDE and lapping day time, I ended up canceling my order.

Bump for a useful item for anyone wanting to move their car out of the Camry realm.

I want to be able to disable traction and stability if I decide I want to mess around on a closed course.
Only thing wrong with camry's is that their interiors make me feel sick. I had an 04 and I regret getting rid of it. It was PlainJane with ugly steel wheels/hubcaps, but the motor and it's IRS made it LEGIT. It didn't have any driving aids TO de-activate.

Agreed! You only feel the traction control if you burn out at every stop and red light. There are none on a real track!!!! Also, why do you guys think these are race cars? If you've ever had a real car with over 450hp (C63), you would know the difference...but I guess your all coming from Civics so it may be a race car to you.

Keep up the bitching...its fun to read.

If you can't break traction on a track, you're not doing it right. Lower power cars are exactly the ones you want you drive without aids because you don't need them to stay in control.
