Ford's short-lived billing as an automaker equal to Toyota in terms of quality/reliability was remarkably short lived. SYNC/MyFordTouch pretty much sucks, and I wouldn't be shocked if their Ecoboost engines see serious deposit issues down the road, or see things like cracked dashes or peeling paint (not that Honda paint quality is remarkable).
Agreed that MyFordTouch is awful, and as for the paint quality I detailed a 2011 Explorer yesterday with 13000km on it and the paint was all chipped along the bottom inside edge of all 4 doors. Probably a design flaw and they rub on something? Anyone else been around any of these and notice the same thing?

Back on topic, I think the Accord is much better looking than the one it's replacing. Clean & simple FTW.

I never said there was a valid fix I just don't count jumping in technology and having issues as a sign one automaker is better than another. We could apply to same to other features like Ford SYNC.

As for DI from my limited understanding of the subject the issues are caused by design with how fuel is sprayed, Toyota and now Honda with the Earthdream engine series are supposed to include port injection. Reading up port injection is supposed to be useful and primarily for around town low load conditions... which is where carbon buildup may most likely occur.

Again not understanding what your problem is.......

How can you or anyone who calls themselves an automotive enthusiast choose the new Accord or Fusion without ever driving either car?

That said....The Passat & 12 Accord are the best drivers in this class (my opinion).

This is one of the worst pictures of the Altima interior i've seen with the lack of depth not showing any of the design features.

This one below shows the interior for what it is, and it is very nice for the segment.

I've seen the new Fusion in person and it's not a huge pig like the Taurus is. If I was in a market for a midsize sedan I'd probably go with the Fusion. Out of all of them it looks the best. The Camry, Accord and Altima look pretty pathetic, the Sonata and Optima have too much going on, and the Passat's exterior is just too boring. The Fusion is 'just right'

It doesn't matter. The Altima, to my eye, is still near the bottom fo the pack in terms of interior design. The same place it has always been. Again, the quality seems much better than prior-gens, but stylewise there is very little visual interest IMO. I prefer the Fusion/Optima/Sonata and even Malibu. I'm reserving judgement of the Accord interior until I see a better pic, but it looks fairly promising.

I'm going to post another picture of the Altima's interior. I think it's a great, straightforward design, much better than the Camry's.

Agreed, I like it very much. A slight downsize was a good move as well.

Too bad it took an entire generation of sales for them to get right what they should have in 2008.

didnt seem to hurt them...sales wide anyway. Accord is still the #2 Sedan in the segment...even on its last legs.

My take? There are enough "agressively styled" cars in this class, especially with the upcoming Fusion and 6, so Honda was fighting a losing battle. They've never been known for building styling knockouts so unless they hired some amazing new design talent, it just wasn't going to happen. I think staying conservative and subdued yet reasonably classy and upscale looking will serve them well. Heck, it's working just fine for the Passat. And it served the prior Malibu well.

    Feel free to disagree.

I agree 100%. Hondas have never been style leaders anyway. They've always made very subdued, yet still very good looking cars. IMO, this is a return to the design philosophy Honda had throughout the 90's. Which I think is a very good thing, as those cars have aged extremely well.

It was #2 for 2011. Honda had major set backs and was hurt more then Nissan or Toyota both with the Tsunami followed by the flooding in Thailand.

That said, they are very very very close currently with the Accord ahead by a few units.

Glad Honda is buckin' the trend with making their new models bigger and bigger The size of the current Accord is just

But I'll reserve judgement until the official specs are out. If it's like an inch there and 1/2 an inch there then--->

looks good enough to be a top 2 midsize sedan for sure. i think it's a big improvement. honda knows they can't gamble with the design. civic is still the best seller after all that criticism.

I like it. Specially with the 3.5L V6 that are disappearing quickly for questionable reasons.

i think it's good enough for the segment, but not great. just too conservative and the material is ok, not great. i do think it's better than the camry interior. i really despise the camry interior.

There really isn't that much change for the exterior.

Interior is better, but I think people are used to their touch this touch that screens. Will still sell well because its a Honda.

Wrong. The RL is to to be renamed the RLX and is a few months away. It will have a V6 and 3 electric motors producing 370-380hp and mated to a 7 speed DSG with estimated fuel economy of 30mpg overall. A FWD model with AWS (all wheel steer) will also be offered.

I'm no fan of the interiors in recent Nissans and I totally liked the Altima interior. It avoids the button crazy look of the current Accord and still has actual knobs you can use to make adjustments. The materials, touch and feel are all substantially better. Is it a Passat - I wouldn't say so but it's not that far off. Style wise it may not be much to look at, but who needs a piece of art for an interior? That's what the M35/M45 is for.
