So im contemplating leaving the vw brand. Its all ive driven my whole life. Ive had everything from mk2s to stage 2 mkv gti. I currently have a mkv jetta 2.5 which is far too boring for my liking. So i find myself debating between leaving vw for a 2012 wrx hatch, or staying for a mk6 gti. The wrx has it beat on performance but as we all know the gti has such an amazing interior and refined quality about it. Im not looking for a debate, but which would you pick?

the mk6 gti is by far the best FWD i've ever driven, and i have not looked back once since buying it.

however, the wrx's are so sexy and awesome. thats a hard decision my friend.

Yep....and the way I see it....where do you spend 99% of your car "bonding" time?
If the interior is cheapo and crappy, who cares what the rest of the car is like? Comfortable, well put together and pleasant interior makes the car liveable. I'm not saying buy on those grounds alone, but if performance is near par and that's what it comes down to....no brainer.....you have to live with it from the driver's seat, not much else.....

Buy a Ford Taurus - so you actually know what boring is. Then buy an air cooled , you will learn how much fun you can have going slow with an antique.

IMHO the Subaru looks ugly, and the interior is shocking.

Get a GTI,or keep the Jetta

    GTI>WRX for me
Ya the subie performs blah blah wtv I dont care... the interior is disgustingly cheap, and I doubt its going to be any more reliable, longer lasting than the GTI. Even if you live where theres snow, winter tires are needed on any car at which point the GTI will be a beast in the snow.

    2012 Golf 2.5L

I have a base Golf 2.5. My wife has a WRX. She loves her car, and I have to say it steers well, stops well and accelerates like a banshee. It has been dead nuts reliable.

It is also uncomfortable, ride is harsh, limited legroom front and rear, interior is more like a punishment than a pleasure. AWD with manual splits 50/50 which makes it twitchy in the rain (STI is adjustable bias). Traction in snow is good, but I've never been stuck in any of my FWD VWs.

Whenever we go anywhere together we take the Golf.

I've owned a Subie myself, they make a decent car. The only thing that makes the WRX remotely enjoyable is the motor. The rest, meh. A GTI sounds good to me.

WRX hands down. My friend just got rid of his 2002 WRX and got a 2012 WRX and that thing is pure sexy with a side of quick. So I say WRX, and that will be my next car when I get rid of my 05 GTI
