    Hey all,

Does anyone have a method they used to tighten the V-belt pulley bolts without the schley pulley holder? I'm looking for an alternative as I want to get this job done tomorrow and don't want my car to have to sit for an extra week waiting for a tool.

I usually get all the pulley bolts finger tight, then i tighten the belt tension on AC pump first and then the PS pump last. I don't have a tensioning bracket for the alternator so i just have a helper lift up on the alternator while i tighten the bolt. Then i go through and tighten all the pulley bolts. I have taken the pulley off my car 5 or 6 times for changing the timing belt and replacing the timing cover and replacing the Coolant pump. This method has worked fine for me.

I tend to take an old belt and a vise grips. Put the belt around the pulley and get the grips as close to the pulley as you can without damaging it and clamp it down on the belt to hold it tightly around the pulley. Works great.

just did my v belts today. the only pulley you need to remove is the power steering one. when you put it back on hand tighten all the bolts then place a wrench between the middle of the bolts and it will lock it in place, then tighten down your bolts. Hope that makes sense
