I'm planning to move, and with the move comes working out in a gym and wearing shoes. At home I either do squats, deadlifts, etc barefoot or in slides....so I don't need or want heel lift or support. Would these work? I like them because they have no midsole cushioning to wear out.

These are appealing too, although I'm not crazy about needing to wear toe socks, and I do prefer wearing socks so they don't get too grungy.

Are there any other shoes worth looking at in the $50 price range?

I love the new balance minimus trail for liftin purposes.. But incant find it under 80$ sometimes cheaper on eBay though .... Socks are not ed recommended but I hate the grungy ness too so what I figured out was.....

Chick-socks... Goto like tjmaxx or marshalls and grab you a pack of womens athletic socks... There like 1/3 the thickness of most men socks and won't ruin the minimalistic feel you want for squat / deads ...etc
I dont want my J-Lines anymore...

This thread should just be called "shoes" since none of the shoes discussed are for lifting.

If you don't think you need a solid heel for support ask Chilledman about how strong he was with a small piece of paper under his heel.

Chick socks and chuck taylors on leg days - commercial gyms frown on going barefoot and I won't be caught dead in vibrams

I forgot about those. I think they have a little heel lift, but it's a good cheap option.

Chucks are $50. I went w/ the Wal-Mart knock-offs for $12. They even ran big and I fit my clods into a 12.
