I believe that the handle on the SIDE of the seat allows you to PUMP the seat up and down... it's in your owners manual.

Just bought my first ever Passat yesterday after trading in my 10' Golf 2.5mt for a 12' Passat 2.5 SE. First off I have to say this is such an awesome car and it makes me realise just how nice having an automatic for daily driving is. Anyways I was wondering if models without the electric power driver seat can adjust to a lower height? I feel as if I'm riding about an inch too high in the car...

That is correct, the handle is flush with the seat base on the left hand side of the driver's seat.

This is definitely true on the passenger seat of my Passat, found on the lateral side of the bottom cushion there is a pump lever that is exactly like my golf's was. But on the driver seat it's all electronic operation... And it seems to not lower the seat as much as the lever side.

OK...now I understand - when I first read your text I thought you said you had a manual seat on the driver's side.... weird, I know.....
I think what I did was to use the tilt to get the desired height, then run the seat a LITTLE forward to be where I wanted to be. After all this, I decided that I liked it better the way it was.... LOL The controls are a little different than most other power seats I have used for sure.....
