I was reading through the CPO 2 year warranty and it says that any type of aftermarket modification voids the warranty. If I were to have issues with my top, could they cite aftermarket tint as a reason to not repair under warranty? Seems a little paranoid to think so, but a BMW I leased years ago was clear on the fact that tint was considered an aftermarket mod if not applied by the dealer.

This can be argued 100 different ways. In the end, the answer is definitely maybe. Depends on the dealerships assessment & exactly what broke. For example, they can't void a warranty on your CV joints because of window tint. They might if a window regulator went, then again, they might not.

Some will argue that laws are in place to protect you on this. Just remember, regardless of how the law is written, the dealership holds all the cards. Law says that they cannot deny warrant unless they can specifically prove the aftermarket part caused the failure. That's real nice except they can deny the warranty and then it's up to you to fight them for coverage. Lots of luck on that.

You did not say where you are located but I will assume you are in the U.S.A..

When someone joins this forum, location is important, since VWs are world cars and specs vary according to what part of the world you live in.

My dealer installed after market tint prior to the sale. They had a professional tint company do the job. It has no affect on warranty in any way, shape or form. Don't worry about it.

And...............it definitely has nothing to do with your top mecanism.

    Just enjoy.
