I am surprised there is no DIY for this in the sticky.

waiting for TP...my memory is shot.

I think you pull it forward a bit, then you insert a small flathead screwdriver...either in the front or rear of the top portion...then it comes off.

ok i have look at it pretty closely. there is a small hole in the back about 1 cm down from the top. i have stuck a pick/small driver in there and can't seem to find anything to slide/push/life. looking at the replacement there is a metal clip that looks like it snaps down onto a latch once installed.....so figuring i have to get that latch down/out of the way to release the OEM cover??

ok, got it. thanks. under the cover is a metal "barrel". looks a bit like a gun barrel, with the "sight end" at the back side away from the button. the little clip on the cover snaps over the "sight notch".
so just a slide of a very small common screwdriver does the trick.

it clips in. just unclip it either push up towards top or push down. I forget which.

Once you get new handle and see how it works it will make perfect sense.
