Try a different dealer or salesperson. Someone will see the comp $$.
Or end up the month when people are struggling to hit numbers

Emailed a dealer about a BRZ limited, here is the convo.
Don't get me wrong, I understand the car is desirable and in demand. But, is this really an excuse? Especially considering Subaru doesn't want dealers to do this?
They want $31,807 for the car.

I would have responded:
Hmm, so you're trying to make an extra 3k on it? If you could have sold it ten times at MSRP, I'm going to assume you're making $1000 + holdback, so let's call it 2500 a car. Seems pretty retarded to pass on 10 sales to try and make three grand.
The real problem is, they probably can't get any more allocations right now.

My Subaru dealer(s) offered me almost $700 off of MSRP for a BRZ Premium.
YMMV

Mustang ownership: cruising at 1500 RPM: oops time to upshift!

Forget that dealer.
I'm seeing MSRP on these cars, and no markup. In 6-9 months they'll probably be available on the lot, and going for less than MSRP if people can just be patient.

Lol salesmen
It's ok if you disagree with me, I can't force you to be right.

Long ago the first Japanese car that was selling for over sticker most probably was the 240Z. Too bad Nissan didn't have them drooling over the return of the Z car aka 350Z.

No, they only have lost 0 sales, not 10 or even 1. They would have loved to sell 10 cars at MSRP, but they don't have 10 cars, they have 1. If you can sell 1 car at MSRP or 1 car at MSRP + $3000, which one makes you more money? This is not a trick question. If they can get MSRP + $3000 then they haven't lost 10 sales (as they didn't have 10 cars) or even 1 sale, because if the car sells, then it sells. No sale lost.Well guess you lost 10 easy sales then. Thanks for the response.

Extra $600 is for that TrueCoat! They install that at the factory you know!

I'm laughing because I told you all so.
genesis coupe, miata, v6 mustang all looking better and better the more we find out about this car.
you can actually buy those cars for cheaper than msrp btw.
and all those cars are beating this piece of crap in comparos left and right these days.
even front wheel drive french econoboxes are beating this car in terms of handling and trackability.
LOL @ U. You could buy a 2013 5.0 liter mustang GT for the price your dealer is quoting you for half the car.

You're laughing at the OP because he wants to buy a BRZ because that's just utterly ridiculous???? I'm pretty sure we all knew that dealers would mark up any chance they could get with a new high demand car. Normal dealer practice. It's dumb, but not unexpected.

I'm still shocked anyone that buys a FR-S or BRZ is still considered mentally competent. For the money you can get a GT 5.0, 2 or 3 S2000's, 2 or 3 350z's, a Supra Turbo, etc.. and you will outhandle and out run a failRS or a BRZ..

Quick question- are the Scion dealers held to "no-haggle" pricing/MSRP?

QFT.
I never understood the hype surrounding these cars. IMO, they are overpriced ****boxes until they come out with an STI version (which I am sure will come someday). That being said, there is a subaru dealer local to me and every salesperson there is a complete douche, not to mention the criminal prices they put on their used cars as well. They recently tried to sell a 2005 Evo with 155k miles for $29,500. I knew the owner of the evo and the car was ****, but according to the ad "it's the fastest car in the city".
The subaru fanboy phase will pass just like all the others, and once something new and novel comes out again, people will bite on that.
