    Hey guys

So I have 2 issues with Bella (my car)

1st is my headlight covers are awful! They are so hazy & yellowish. I have had my car detailed numerous times over the year and they usually sand them down a bit and they are good for a while but it ALWAYS comes back. I have also used a Griots product lotion for them and it helped a small bit but not much. Does anyone have any recs of what I can use to get them looking new again and staying that way?! Yes I would like to get new headlights all together but right now that is not a need.

Also I have my lower front spoiler has a good crack in it. Showed it to my body shop guy & he can either order me a brand new one and then paint it and clear coat it so i am talking about $800 or he can patch it from the back and fill it a little and paint it and cost me $500. Still 2 pricey options. I was thinking if I could find someone who has the whole bumper available I could by it off them or maybe find a totaled GLI with no front end damage and get it that way. I also have a MILLION & 1 Chips from my hood down so I am very open to replacing the whole bumper if it was to have less chips then mine. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions to both of my ?'s I would love some feedback. My car is my BABY I her and take amazing care of her so these 2 issues are eating away at me.

    Thanks Guys & Girls!

    T

Is this a MKIV or MKV GLI?

Headlamps nowdays are made of polycabonate plastic. They will yellow and fade when exposed to UV rays from the sun and there's no cure for this. So your only options are to replace them or use the Meguire's or 3M headlight restoration kit AND protect them with something like Lamin-x covers (www.lamin-x.com). Some aftermarket companies have started to produce glass replacement lenses you can install yourself. For the bottom lip repair, the call is yours although I think both of those repair otions are way too high. Check other body shops for pricing. Personally I'd try to source a used one from a junkyard, the classifieds on Vortex, or craigslist pay to have it repainted and then install it myself. But if you have marks all over the bumper, you may wish to install it and them have the whole area painted.

'05 should be a MkIV. Don't think the MkV GLI's started until '06 or so.

The 3M restoration kit is pretty awesome. Took my husband a few hours (and it should take you that long if you do it right) to do his Jetta headlights. This was back in March probably. Still looking clear and shiny now. No lamin-x either.

You can also just buy glass lenses. I, personally, would just go full e-code to not have to worry about separating the lenses and such, but the glass lenses themselves are much, much cheaper. Could be a good option. Don't have to worry about them fading and yellowing ever.
