steering wheel swaps

has anyone swapped the steering wheels in these cars yet?

looking to swap a mk6 R wheel in the passat.

I know I need the wheel and the smaller bag. and I know the wheel will bolt up, I am more worried about the plug portion.

I swapped my for the paddle shifter steering wheel from the V6. I don't know about from other models though.

I called a friend of mine Adam who works in parts at Checkered Flag VW. He told me that everything is good to go. The only thing that looks like it may be an issue is which ABCM (air bag control module) is in the passats.

the part number looks to be exactly the same; but, the MK6 GTI has the last 3 numbers of 001, and the system will not let him look and see what the last numbers or on a car with out the VIN. So this is our only hold up right now. I will update later.

Yea paddles work even light up red like the rest of steering wheel controls. As far as coding there is one bit to turn on tiptronic feature. Took maybe 20 minutes to do the swap.

Sorry didn't take any install pics. I just followed another write up on a steering wheel swap for a jetta I believe. I think I found that write up on myturbodeisel.com.

The part# is 561419091HE74 I paid $600 but I think it sells for $700 at the dealer. There are other VW steering wheels that look like the same wheel but I think they have different electrical connections. I know Kchorro bought one on eBay thinking it would work but he had trouble with bc it was a different part#.
