Mk2 golf w aba motor and today while driving home when I'd pull up to a light or come to a stop, after pressing the clutch the rpm's shoot down to almost stalling (twice it stalled) then shoots back up to normal. I searched and found a lot on the icv.

but before i get into that another slight problem is earlier i was driving and while staying at a steady speed, not accelerating, it seemed to "bog" down slightly, or sputter almost but hardly noticeable.

I feel like this could also be a vacuum leak, will look more into this weekend. It seems more of an inconvenience than a major problem but I need to figure it out nonetheless.

Last time a tune-up was done? Or even the gap on the plugs checked?

    BUMP

Cleaned throttle body and ICV with carb cleaner and sprayed it down with wd-40 and it made no difference with how it idles, haven't driven it yet. I sprayed down all the air stuff with carb cleaner looking for any vacuum leaks and no change in idle either.

Any other ideas of what it could be? Again, the rpms drop super low (under 10 grand) when I push the clutch and occasionally it drops so low it stalls. Also while accelerating and shifting up it'll hold bog out slightly then jump back to normal rpm range.

The ABA motor should idle around 900 rpms. And have you done a tune up and you might want to try adjusting the idle stop on the TB. I had to do the some thing on my jetta. And if all of that does not work then try the TPS.

Tune up is due and I'm going to tomorrow, hopefully that will help. When I cleaned out the ICV and tb both we're still pretty clean so I don't think either is the problem but I'll look into the idle itself.

Thank you and will be back if I need more help

Unplug your maf & see if ur issue goes away. If it does your maf needs replacing.
