Just as the title says Didn't really pay attention until today I was driving my integra then switched to my gti. Usually when i shift in manual to first and 2nd gear when starting the car from a redlight to a green light i push the knob all the way to the left then up to hit first and just drop it down for second. Okay thats for the integra. Drove my gti woah something felt wierd about it had to get used to it or something is messed up. I push all the way to the left like I do with the integra and try to push up and seems like something is blocking it so i move a hairpin to the right then up and it goes in first. then for second I have to make sure its in the same position as first and drop it down real quick but when going from 3rd to second its a pain cause im use to pushing all the way to the left then down and something feels like its blocking it have to move a hair pin to the right then down just like first. ONly reason im downshifting is because when someone brakes in front of me I slow my car down and downshift to get up the hill. Im thinking that I might have to adjust the shift linkage. All gears go in smoothley first-fifth just moving the hairpin to the right for first and second. Reverse has gotten to be a pain because of the first gear confusing me now.
so my question is you thinnk i should adjust shift linkage?
I have a b&m short shifter btw.
Its a 2004 golf gti 1.8T 5-speed.
Changing tranny fluid this weekend and if you guys think adjusting the shift linkage would fix it it would be amazing. Another thing is that when having my gear in second it looks like its in 4th lol. When releasing it goes back in the middle to neutral like any another clutch and just move it forward for third and down for fourth.
