taking a peek at a few 08/09 ninja 250s for a friend tonight/next few days. anything in specific to check for on these thumpers? the one I'm scoping tonight is an 09 with 4k miles. he said hell take 2500.

Really general condition is all you need to look at. If the intake and exhaust are stock, the motor should be fine. Take a look at the chain and sprockets to see if they've been maintained properly. There are really no problems that pop up in the used bikes, your biggest concern should probably be if the bike has been laid down or wrecked.

Edit: in the case of the 09 with 4k miles for 2500, I'd really check if its been dropped or wrecked. I hardly see them for that low, so either something might be wrong with it or the guy just really needs to sell.

thought the same when I saw he only wanted 2700. upon further search several other sub 3k ones popped up, most of which having some forms of damage and neglect but some seeming clean and just speedy sale needed.

he lives in an area known to be upper class and is leaving for school at the end of the month. rode it for a year and is selling to put towards tuition. doesn't sound like he payed much, if any at all from his pocket, from the start. said it was dropped by the previous owner but not while being ridden, said the fairing has a small crack where the turn signal hit the ground.

I have to laugh when someone calls me an a*****e. I've been called far worse than that.

these are designed to be noob friendly both in riding and maintenance. best bet is to find one completely stock. other than that, check for damage from the drop.
