Folks, we live in a competitive world and culture. Excellence is something we celebrate to the point that those at the top of the game become unreachable, untouchable, and almost mythical creations. When a celebrity is seen in real life and the experience is almost surreal. One of the things that USRT loves is that our racing activities involve us with high caliber individuals that we call real friends. What’s even more interesting is that many of these guys just happen to be VW/Audi fans and drivers. While not always the fastest cars straight off the dealer lot, they’re outstanding platforms for modification, real race competition, and launching careers.

Speaking of, we’re going to introduce the community to a number of players over the next few months. That includes our road race partners at Maximum Attack Motorsports, ace rally driver, Josh Wimpey from Quantum Rally Sport), champion autocrosser, “Mad” Max Clesca, and a young lad we call the “Rally Brat”…
To chit chat with Alex Kihurani, please check us out on . He just got back from running the Neste Oil Rally Finland. With his driver, Chris Duplessis, the pair were the first All-American team to run this WRC round in nearly 40 years! Ask him about how he got to where he is at the top of World Rally, X-Games, and more.

Alex calls notes on Special Stage 9 in this video:

This is what it looks like to be only 1 second per mile off the stage winner's pace in a FIRST time effort overseas. –an absolutely outstanding performance.

I went for an in car rally car ride at NEFR. It was INSANE. On top of that, it was dark and it was like 100 degrees in the car while we were waiting to stage. Def do it again.

Glad to hear it, Brian. Rally folks are some of the friendliest and most open in all of motorsports. It's seriously hard to spectate, but the general "everything's right out there in the open" helps make up for it. So, what was it like inside the car? Did you learn some new respect for this gang of crazy people? Did you hurl?
