Feeler: W8 engine for sale

Friend is converting a W8 Passat to hold a TDI and therefore he does not need the W8 engine so it is up for sale. This W8 is a 2003 that is the super rare manual and that is what he was looking for. So, the W8 engine is up for sale. Please let me know your interest. Shipping can be made available but the closer you are to northwest Ohio, the easier. The engine has approximately 175K miles on it and running strong. Not that I know much about it but if you have questions, I can pass those onto him and try to get a reply.

Damn, if I had the money, I'd keep buying all these W8 engines I see going for sale as backup engines. Just curious, how much is he asking for it?

Well, he got back to me and stated that the following items are up for sale:

Engine (has 170K miles), ECU (for manual), wiring harness and gas pedal

The oxygen sensors and the catalytic converters

Prices? Is he selling the transmission?

The engine, ECU, wiring harness and gas pedal as a set is $1500. That may be low or may be high but that is what he is asking. Note that shipping would be an added expense to anyone pondering the idea.

The transmission is not for sale as the W8 is being converted to a TDI 6-speed manual.

Yes, he is putting the TDI engine from his 2004 Passat in a W8 car with a 6-speed manual transmission. It will be something else and he does not plan on selling it unless VW starts selling a CC with a TDI engine in an all wheel drive.
