Does this problem go away if you mash the gas to the floor in 1st?
Does this engine have an EGR valve?

pulsating acceleration

iv'e had this problem a while now. iv'e been searching but can seem to put my finger on it. when i accelerate from a stop in the 95 gl the engine will occasionally surge and pulse rapidly. id say it only happens 1 out of 20 times. when i catch it doing it i noticed the car still responds to the pedal when i led off and give gas will continue surging in time with rpms. 98% of the time when i shift to 2nd the pulsing stops and it continues smoothly.

when mashed it surges more violently ha, it follows with engine speed. and it has an egr valve
