I have a b3 with bad lifter tick/ rattle, and i have a good running aba and engine harness from a 93 golf with around 115,000 miles the 16v has like 150,000, So will the aba go right in and start right up and everything work normal

Cuz the 16v needs lifters and i have a good running aba but its for another project, i ended up ordering lw lifters from usrt and might be getting 268 cams

268 cams will make it go pretty good. You should upgrade the exhaust as well.

To put the ABA in, you'd need to either swap the all the ABA wiring and injection system in or swap all the sensors and injection stuff from the 16v in to the ABA.

Not as easy as some people would think.

so putting a aba in a b3 kinda tricky but its just like any other motor swap i didnt take any pics cause its pretty straight forward

y i chose to do the swap
    1. already had the aba
    2. 8v is easier to work on and cheap to fix and find parts for
    3. just cant figure out the 16v

so i tried to keep the 16v but in the process of puting the lifters in and putting it back together the timing belt skipped and bent the vavles or so i believe and since it wouldnt run and i have a good OBDI aba with around 115,000 miles i went ahead and did the swap im not completely done all thats left is semi tucking the harrness splicing wires together in the fusebox area because they have different connectors so a2 resources should help, i installed lw lifters from the 16v since there still new and i plan on getting a 272 cam in the spring along with new bushings, motor mounts, new clutch, then for a big power adder im s/c it and shooting for around 200hp but thats going to be a winter project

Yes, but what I was getting at is you can't just plug in the new motor to the old harness. You have to swap harnesses AND injection systems. ABA is Digi and 16v is CIS-E. Also, the fuel pumps are different too I believe.

if the 16v just needs lifters, why not just replace the lifters? (and do a timing belt and tensioner while youre in there) it will take less time than a motor swap and youll still have a more powerful, fun to drive engine. dont get me wrong, the ABA is a great engine but in a heavy passat youll prolly get bored of it very quickly

just read that you bent valves, my bad..
